Morpheme

A morpheme is the smallest piece of a word that carries meaning: a root, a prefix, or a suffix. The OVP word ma-düka-ti ("is eating it") is three morphemes: ma- (it) + tüka (eat) + -ti (ongoing).

The hyphens you see in OVP words throughout this wiki (i-bia, tüka-ti, paya-neika) simply mark the boundaries between morphemes. They have no effect on pronunciation. They're there to help you see the pieces a word is built from. The same words are often written solid elsewhere (ibia, tükati).
