Prefix

A prefix is a small piece added to the front of a word.

OVP's object and possessive markers are prefixes: ma-, a-, u-, i-. They attach to a verb to mark its object (ma-düka-ti, "is eating it") or to a noun to mark possession (i-bia, "my mother"). Adding one often triggers the fortis/lenis sound softening.
